My mother and I just had the most humiliating experience at this foot spa. Because our masseurs left the spa in Rowland Heights, I took my 67 years old mother to this foot spa for the very first time. We happened to see our previous masseurs in that spa and we were very happy. My mom is a diabetic patient. So her feet and legs' blood circulations are poor. Our masseurs know about her issue. She never asked for a full body massage, but just to massage her legs. After the regular soaking and foot massage, they put in a private room with 2 beds. During the massage, their Shanghainese manager started talking very loud to her masseur saying things like he should not massage my mom's legs because it's their spa policy. Then, she verbally insulted my mother accusing her asking the masseur perfoming some sexual activity. First of all, my mom is aready 67 years old. She and I were in the same room with the door wide open; 2 masseur and both of us are fully dressed (with pants too). The manager would not stop shouting which made my mom very upset. Mom is a very reputable and successful businesswoman. She would not take this kind of insult. So she confronted to the manager. She told the manager if she wanted to train her staff on store policies, she should do it privately and not to disturb the customers' peace. My mother asked her to keep her voice down because it is a spa and their store name is called "iRelax" not "iStress" or "iShout". Then the manager got mad and called us Chinese mainlanders (like her). This didn't bother me because we were actually from Taiwan. But it is a discrimination term. The manager called off the massage and asked us to pay the full price and leave. She kept on telling us that 3 Mayors come to their spa for massage...like they are her personal friends. It was ironic because I just happened to know all three of them on a personal level.
Before the manager came into the room, the owner of the store was the one that told the masseur to massage my mom's legs. I explained that to the manager and her response was: "The boss has to listen to me." Her attitude was unbelievable rude. She would only stop and listen when I spoke to her in English. I asked her does she know anything about "customer service" and "business management". I guess she never learned these two words, so she looked puzzled.
The manager of iRelax Foot Spa's attitude is definitely not acceptable. Through the conversation with their massage therapists, I realized most of them are unlicensed and are illegal immigrants. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS SPA.
