My husband and I reviewed many 'Debt Negotiation/Settlement' companies since October 2008 due to our financial troubles. My husband chose Square 1 - against my wishes....Now he is very sad he did! We have paid them personally ~$9000.00 dollars and they have yet to make any impact or positive communication with ANY of the MANY collection agencies that are harassing us! They told us on the phone that we would have to have our bills go to collections agencies BEFORE they could intervene on our behalf...We BELIEVED them ...Even though I did not like having to wait for COLLECTORS ... I would have preferred to have a debt settlement company that works with the CREDITORS to resolve the debt...Again my husbands decision was to use 'Square 1'!! I just returned from my 1st court hearing on one of my credit card companies in a local court and the Creditors representing atty has never had ANY contact with 'Square 1' in regards to this debt EVEN though Square 1 had paperwork on this exact debt and collector since Feb 5th, 2009 and today is Friday, August 21st, 2009!! We NEVER get called as to the status of our debt EVEN when we fax in a request that they contact us! Soooo-WE CALL THEM!! The story we get after 25 -45 minutes on hold waiting for someone to answer is that 'The Program is right on target and that they know better - that is what we hired them for and to just keep faxing over letters and documents that we get." We even asked for some understanding as to what to take to court with us or what to expect and how to interact with the judge and the other atty and NEVER got anybody to respond. They just told us to take a copy of our contract. Once in court it was very scary and after telling the judge we are working a debt program and the creditors atty saying that he has nothing on record as to anything about Square 1 or any record of any communications from Square 1 I was made to look like a FOOL!! After returning home we called Square 1 to tell them of the humiliation of THINKING they were working on our behalf and finding out NOTHING had been done and after being shuffled around to 3 different people at Square 1 - the last being 'Oliver Page'-who was disrespectful to us, called the creditors atty a liar and unethical and informed us that Square 1 is a Consumer information line for direction and guidance and not more than that we were appalled!! DO NOT GET INVOLVED for the Help you need - THIS COMPANY WILL NOT FOLLOW THRU!! THEY TAKE YOUR $$$$ AND GIVE YOU ZERO IN RETURN!! $9000.00 could have paid a lot of OUR DEBT and when I ask for a direct line to get back to OLIVER PAGE-SUDDENLY the PHONE WENT DEAD! He had been telling us all along they were installing a new phone system and were having a lot of trouble and used that many times in our conversation as an excuse for poor
(on nonexistent) service! (Just as another reviewer stated!!)
BE FORE-WARNED!! BE FORE-WARNED!!! DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH SQUARE 1...
YOU ARE HERE BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE FINANCIAL TROUBLES AND THIS COMPANY WILL MAKE THEM WORST!!I would not EVEN give them 1 star rating but this page would not allow me to give them ZERO!!
