Attorney William D. Goodrich is the name that the fraudulent company "Loss Mitigation" which sent me a mailer recently. The Mailer looks like a government document. It addresses me by my first name. It threatens that I am missing an opportunity if I do not respond immediately. In small print there is a statement: "This is an advertisement. This is not a formal offer, as eligibility on individual company information. No terms are implied and this is simply an offer for more information . . . This is not a government agency letter, nor should it be construed as such. This is not an offer for a loan." However, on the front of this document are the following: "Harris 77004 Official Business" and "Warning: 2K fine and/or 5 year imprisonment for any person interfering or obstructing with delivery of this mail legal advertisement. US mail secretary. 170B
When I called the number provided I was told that I had to leave personal information and would get a call back. When I pretended to be confused the phone answerer admitted that the term Loss Mitigation was not a process being advertised but the legal name of a company owned by William D. Goodrich. I found on line that Goodrich runs this scam in several states and that what he is offering to do is illegal, because attorneys cannot be paid in advance for this service. If you get an official looking mail from these fraudsters I would advise that you save it and complain. In today's desperate environment these frauds abound. Shame on "Attorney William D. Goodrich" who ever you are.
