Our Association has been working with CMS for several years. For many of those years, we were happy with their work. Unfortunately, the last couple of years things seem to have fallen apart. We have tried dealing with their managers, but they seem to care more about vendors than the Associations they represent. It has gotten so bad, that we have been doing almost all of the managing ourselves. Every time CMS has been involved lately, everything has fallen apart. Managing our Association has become a full-time position for our board members, which has created a lot of stress. Simple things that the management company should handle are being thrown to us to make decisions. Even after notifying the owner of our situation, we have seen no improvement. Another HUGE issue is that their accounting department is terrible. They claim to have sent checks numerous times that have not been received, they continually have to stop payment on checks, checks are sent out after the invoice is due, they have overcharged us for many things, and not checked invoices to confirm that they should be paid. Again, we brought this up to the accounting department, even quoting examples were they made mistakes, and they took no blame on the issues. It is very frustrating that we are the customer and CMS treats our vendors with more respect, than we get. They have even gone so far as to ask a vendor about legal issues that we were involved in, and telling us that the vendor says so, so it must be true. Who are they working for? You have to wonder... We are having several issues with vendors that they recommended, that are extremely incompetent. Needless to say, we are done and do not wish CMS' ineptness on anyone. There are much more efficient property management companies, and I strongly advise going with them over CMS. Mr. McCarthy, the owner, better start taking a more careful look at his organizAtion, because he won't be in business for long if he doesn't make changes...quickly!
