Here is my experience...
A dealer who sells used cars can always tell if
the car was hit, damaged or repainted. You may not be able to tell how bad the accident was by looking outside, but you can definitely see repaint and bodywork.
So I found this car on-line, looked good and almost new.
Emailed/called-in and spoke to a sales guy named MASON...
I've seen pictures and Mason offered a walk-around where he'd be replace my eyes... ;) Sounds interesting? Well it is....
He tells me that the car is clean besides the rear bumper being repainted.
We agreed on numbers and I came down !400miles! to realize that I was lied to. The car was repainted and body work was done in a really bad way. Paint/clear coat all over rear lights, rubber seals etc.... I could literally see paint brush marks on the glass! Rear doors and trunk didn't lock as they should = where not aligned + car had structural damage. Rear lights where attached with a wrong size bolts.
...and just as Mason said... "I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE!... CLEAN CARFAX!... Take it for an inspection!"
I've never been lied to like that before. Definitely not when I told upfront I'm coming far and make will an inspection. And again I asked a number of times about accidents..... not once or twice.
There are 4 body shops within same block!
Over all I wasted a bunch of time and a few hundred $$$ in trip expenses...because of the way they choose to do business. You are expected to be stupid, dumb and ready to pay whatever they ask for what used to be a nice auto. This is how they try to make their living.
My advice: save your time don't go there. If you do, make sure you inspect what you plan to buy. Don't believe in what you are told. With those guys even things that can't go wrong will go wrong in the worst possible way.
