Thought I was getting a great engine turned out to be a real big lemon
|
Trouble from the start! Started out with a bad water pump , made a claim with a very obstinate claim rep with ATK . Heard nothing back, called multiple times got no call back. Finally got reimbursed by Jeggs who I purchase the engine from. The engine had no power from the start, thought it was trouble with timing and or the carburetor.Lots of time trying to sort it out. Finally I requested a compression test to see what we had. All way off. ATK requested the engine to be sent back for them to test. In viewing the response I had with the water pump I opted to pull the heads and expedite the repair. NAPA looked over the heads and said the machining was terrible. Machined the heads hoping that would do it, but no the bottom was trash as well. Just a piece of junk, all the way around!
My advice to anyone don't deal with this outfit. Do yourself a favor and buy a new engine or find a shop that will pull your engine and re-machine it and top shelf the whole engine , may cost a bit more but way cheaper than the money and aggravation of dealing with the interrogation and excuses of why you are the fault that the engine does not work.Believe me just spend the money up front and avoid the hassle. For the extra $2000 you spend you can save on the tow bills and mechanics.
